Abstract: This article introduces Professor WANG Chen's clinical experience in syndrome differentiation and treatment of proteinuria caused by dampness in chronic kidney disease (CKD) . Professor WANG contends to delay CKD progression should prioritize the control of proteinuria, which is closely associated with dampness, heat, deficiency, and blood stasis. With dampness being the root,he emphasizes the treatment principle "dampness retention with intractable proteinuria" and particularly the clinical application of dampness-eliminating therapy for proteinuria in CKD. Professor WANG has systematically summarized eight dampness-resolving methods,i.e.,invigorating spleen to resolve dampness, clearing heat to drain dampness, activating blood circulation to promote urination, dispelling wind to eliminate dampness, warming yang to resolve fluid retention, elevating yang to resolve dampness, promoting urination to percolate dampness, and eliminating dampness with aromatics. These methods are flexibly applied in clinical practice according to various pathogenesis based on syndrome differentiation.
