Abstract: Objective: To observe the effects of Baduanjin on postural control and balance in stroke patients during the recovery phase. Methods: A total of 140 stroke patients in the recovery phase who were treated at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of Dongyang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from March 2022 to December 2023 were selected and divided into a control group and an observation group, with 70 cases in each group, using a random number table method. The control group received conventional treatment of the Neurology Department, while the observation group received additional Baduanjin training on the basis of the control group. The Postural Assessment Scale for Stroke (PASS), Berg Balance Scale (BBS) scores, weight-bearing distribution ratio of both lower limbs (WBL), total length of center of gravity trajectory (TLCGT), peripheral area of center of gravity trajectory (PACGT),and effective time of anterior-posterior and left-right trajectories in the trajectory flight training test (TTGTT) were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the gait temporal-spatial parameters (step length, step speed, and step frequency) in both groups were increased compared to those before treatment (P<0.05), with the observation group achieving higher values than the control group (P< 0.05). The PASS scores for posture change and maintenance were increased in both groups after treatment (P<0.05), with the observation group achieving higher scores than the control group (P<0.05). The BBS scores were increased in both groups after treatment (P<0.05),with the observation group achieving higher scores than the control group (P< 0.05). The open-eye WBL was increased in both groups after treatment (P<0.05), and the closed-eye WBL was increased in the observation group (P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in the control group (P>0.05). The open-eye WBL was higher in the observation group than in the control group after treatment (P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in the closed-eye WBL between the two groups (P>0.05). The open-eye TLCGT was decreased in both groups after treatment (P<0.05), and the closed-eye TLCGT was decreased in the observation group (P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in the control group (P>0.05). The open-eye TLCGT was shorter in the observation group than in the control group after treatment (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in the closed-eye TLCGT between the two groups (P>0.05). The open-eye PACGT was decreased in both groups after treatment (P<0.05), and the closed-eye PACGT was decreased in the observation group (P<0.05), while there was no significant difference in the control group (P>0.05). There was no significant difference in PACGT between the two groups after treatment (P>0.05). The TTGTT values (anterior-posterior time and left-right time) were increased in both groups after treatment (P<0.05),with the observation group achieving higher values than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Baduanjin training can improve postural control and balance in stroke patients during the recovery phase, which is beneficial for rehabilitation.
