Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Qigui Tongluo Oral Liquid combined with western medicine on chronic tension-type headache （CTTH） with pericranial myalgia of qi deficiency and blood stasis type. Methods： A total of 100 cases of patients with CTTH with pericranial myalgia of qi deficiency and blood stasis type treated at the Encephalopathy Department， Guangdong Second Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital， from August 2022 to October 2024 were selected and divided into the treatment group （57 cases） and the control group （43 cases） based on different treatment methods. The control group was treated with Eperisone Hydrochloride Tablets， and the treatment group was additionally treated with Qigui Tongluo Oral Liquid combined with the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks. Traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores，and headache symptom scores before and after treatment as well as clinical effects and safety were compared between the two groups. Results： After four weeks of treatment， the total effective rate was 96.49% （55/57） in the treatment group， higher than 79.07% （34/43） in the control group （P＜0.05）. Scores for fatigue， insomnia with excessive dreaming， headache， and palpitations in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment （P＜0.05）， with the treatment group showing lower scores than the control group （P＜0.05）. Scores for headache severity， frequency of attacks， duration， and accompanying symptoms in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment （P＜0.05），with the treatment group showing lower scores than the control group （P＜0.05）. There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups （P＞0.05）. Conclusion： Qigui Tongluo Oral Liquid combined with western medicine is effective in treating CTTH with pericranial myalgia of qi deficiency and blood stasis type，which can improve clinical pain symptoms with good safety.
