Abstract:Objective:To explore the relationship between the five circuits and six qi of the birth dates of children with mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) and their susceptibility to the disease in the year 2023 (Gui Mao Year). Methods: The hospitalization records of 385 children with MPP who visited the Guangzhou Yuexiu District Children's Hospital, from January 1 to December 31,2023,were collected. The Gregorian calender birth dates were extracted and converted into the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches system. The distribution characteristics of age, Heavenly Stems,Earthly Branches, yearly circuit, celestial control-terrestrial effect, dominant qi and guest qi,and the combined circuit-qi features were analyzed. Results: The distribution of yearly circuit in MPP children was statistically significant (P<0.05), with the highest proportion of children born in the year of excessive water circuit (16.36%) and the lowest in the year of deficient water circuit (5.19%). The distribution of qi and circuit anomalies in MPP children was also statistically significant (P<0.05),with the highest proportion of children born in the year of celestial restriction (46.75%) and the lowest in the year of mildly-rebellious (4.68%). However, the distribution of dominant qi and guest qi,and celestial control-terrestrial effect, showed no statistical significance (P> 0.05). Conclusion: Children born in the year of excessive water circuit and/or celestial restriction have a higher likelihood of developing MPP in the year 2023( Gui Mao Year).
