Abstract:Objective:To analyze the research hotspots and development trends of buccal acupuncture based on CiteSpace knowledge mapping. Methods: Chinese and English literature related to buccal acupuncture therapy published between January 1,2000 and April 1,2024 from three Chinese databases( CNKI,VIP,Wanfang) and two foreign literature databases (PubMed, Web of Science) were selected as research objects. CiteSpace 6.3.R1 software was used to conduct visual research analysis from several aspects including quantitative statistical analysis of annual publications, keyword clustering analysis, keyword clustering time interval analysis, and author co-occurrence network analysis. Results: A total of 152 articles were included in the study. The publication trend of buccal acupuncture showed a linear increase from 2019 to 2023. The author co-occurrence network analysis map showed that FANG Xiaoli had the highest number of publications. The team mainly composed of FANG Xiaoli, SU Chenghong, ZHANG Yanju, PU Ruisheng, XIE Wangjun, and YANG Chenguang had more research collaborations and closer relationship networks. Keyword analysis showed that the research hotspots of buccal acupuncture mainly focused on two aspects: the therapy of buccal acupuncture and the research on buccal acupuncture itself. The keyword timeline map showed that early research on buccal acupuncture focused on central mechanisms, and later expanded to holographic theory and other aspects. The early clinical applications were mainly for analgesia, arthritis and other diseases. Conclusion:Buccal acupuncture therapy has good efficacy in adjuvant treatment of acute and chronic pain, arthritis, and metabolic abnormalities, while research in other areas is relatively limited, suggesting that the treatment and research of buccal acupuncture will have great exploration space in the future.
