Exploration on Stage-Based Syndrome Treatment and Acupuncture and Moxibustion Application for Shoulder-Hand Syndrome After Stroke Based on “Clearing Yang to Energize the Limbs”
Abstract: Shoulder-hand syndrome is one of the common complications after stroke, mainly characterized by clinical symptoms such as pain, swelling, and limited mobility in the affected shoulder and hand. Based on the theory of “clearing yang to energize the limbs”,this paper concludes that the main pathogenesis of shoulder-hand syndrome after stroke is “qi stagnation blocking collaterals, yang deficiency and spleen weakness, limbs losing nourishment”. After stroke, the clearing yang fails to transform, and its movement is derelict in duty, leading to qi stagnation and yang deficiency, which blocks the yang meridians and collaterals, and prevents them from energizing the limbs, resulting in impediment syndrome or atrophy syndrome. Treatment should follow the basic principle of warming, unblocking, diffusing, and supplementing, with stage-based syndrome differentiation, syndrome differentiation along yang meridians, and discussion on the practical application of acupuncture and moxibustion in treating shoulder-hand syndrome after stroke, aiming to provide references for clinical treatment.
