Abstract:Objective:To explore the research hotspots and trends of traditional Chinese medicine in treating food retention cough using CiteSpace for visual analysis. Methods: With "infantile food retention cough" and "traditional Chinese medicine" as subject terms, the research literature on traditional Chinese medicine treatment of infantile food retention cough from CNKI,Wanfang database, and VIP database published between January 1,1994 and June 30, 2024 were retrieved. CiteSpace 6.2.R6 software was used for visual analysis of authors, institutions, and keywords. Results: A total of 271 research articles were included, showing a fluctuating upward trend in annual publications. The included literature involved 381 authors, forming five main research teams represented by YUAN Xiaofeng, YUAN Zhenhua, ZHANG Bo, etc. There were 280 keywords identified, with high-frequency keywords including cough, food retention cough, Baohe Pills, data mining, and infantile cough. Conclusion: Research on food retention cough has increased year by year. In recent five years, research hotspots have mainly focused on data mining, external traditional Chinese medicine therapies, and medication patterns. The application of data mining technology to explore medication patterns has become the mainstream research direction in this field with considerable development potential. Further research is recommended on post-treatment care and long-term efficacy for infantile food retention cough.
