Abstract:Based on the etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical manifestations of pediatric pneumonia with wheezing and cough, Director WU Xianna classifies the disease into three stages: fever phase, cough phase, and recovery phase. The fever phase is characterized by lung qi constraint and obstruction, rapid progression, and susceptibility to heat transformation. Treatment focuses on diffusing the lung and relieving panting, clearing heat and dissolving phlegm. The cough phase is marked by phlegm-heat obstructing the lung, often complicated with dampness, stagnation, or stasis. Treatment emphasizes diffusing the lung and regulating qi, dispelling dampness and dissolving phlegm, and invigorating blood and unblocking collaterals. The recovery phase is dominated by deficiency of both the lung and spleen. Treatment adopts the principle of banking up earth to generate metal from the syndrome differentiation and treatment of the middle energizer. The therapeutic process adheres to the principle of "treating the acute symptoms first and addressing the root cause second during remission",treating the root and branch simultaneously.
