Abstract： Objective： To analyze the medication rules of Professor JIANG Jinting in treating lumbar disc herniation in Lingnan region based on data mining. Methods： The outpatient cases of patients with lumbar disc herniation diagnosed and treated by Professor JIANG from September 2018 to January 2025 were collected. Excel 2021 was used to input the prescription information. With an established database， the frequency， nature， flavors， meridian entries and effects of Chinese medicine were statistically analyzed. SPSS Modeler 18.0 was used for association rule analysis，SPSS26.0 for hierarchical cluster analysis， and Cytoscape for establishment of a complex network. Results：A total of 4 155 prescriptions were included，involving 257 kinds of Chinese medicine which were used for 104 837 times in total. The Chinese medicine was mainly warm in nature，and that in cold was used together；the flavors were mainly sweet，bitter and acrid；the meridian entries were mostly the liver，lung，spleen，heart and kidney，and the effect was for supplementing deficiency. According to the association rules analysis，the top three herbal pairs were Linderae Radix-Eucommiae Cortex， Linderae Radix-Puerariae Lobatae Radix， and Eucommiae Cortex-Puerariae Lobatae Radix； the top three triplet herbal combinations were Linderae Radix-Puerariae Lobatae Radix-Eucommiae Cortex， Linderae Radix-Polygoni Multiflori Caulis-Eucommiae Cortex and Linderae Radix- Polygoni Multiflori Caulis-Puerariae Lobatae Radix；three medicinal combinations were obtained by cluster analysis； the core medicinal combinations established by complex network analysis yielded 24 kinds of Chinese medicine including Dipsaci Radix， Eucommiae Cortex， Linderae Radix， Taxilli Herba， Cinnamomi Ramulus， Astragali Radix， Paeoniae Radix Rubra， Angelicae Sinensis Radix， Pheretima， Aurantii Fructus， Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus， Coptidis Rhizoma， Polygoni Multiflori Caulis， Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle . Conclusion：Professor JIANG Jinting mainly uses liver-soothing and kidney-tonifying Chinese medicine for lumbar disc herniation in Lingnan region，supplemented by qi-regulating and meridian-dredging Chinese medicine，and the combination use of cold and warm Chinese medicine. It reflects the medication rules under the guidance of the academic thought of “low back pain is caused by one of five viscera instead of kidney only” according to the climate and cultural characteristics of Lingnan region.
