Discussion on Acupuncture and Moxibustion in the Treatment of Cerebellar Infarction- Induced Vertigo Under the Guidance of Managing Blood Prior to Treating Wind Theory
Abstract: Cerebellar infarction, as a critical subtype of ischemic stroke, often leads to vertigo that severely impacts patients' quality of life. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)classifies cerebellar infarction-induced vertigo as endogenous wind syndrome. Under the guidance of managing blood prior to treating wind theory, the authors propose that the pathogenesis of this condition is rooted in deficiency of liver blood, and wind transformation due to pathogenses, characterized by failure of blood to nourish the body and malnutrition of cerebral vessels, with blood stasis in the vessels and lingering wind pathogens as secondary manifestations. The therapeutic principles focus on nourishing blood, promoting blood circulation, and regulating blood. A comprehensive therapy combining moxibustion, Fang's scalp needling, and conventional acupuncture has demonstrated satisfactory clinical efficacy.
