Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Acupuncture at Hegu(L14)point of removing knots along tendons on stage I post-stroke shoulder-hand syndrome(SHS). Methods:A total of 60 patients with stage I post- stroke SHS who were treated in Guangdong Second Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from December 2023 to October 2024 were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group by the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. Both groups received basic medical treatment and corresponding rehabilitation training. The control group was additionally treated with conventional acupuncture therapy, and the observation group was additionally treated with acupuncture at Hegu(L14)point of removing knots along tendons. Both groups were treated for two weeks, once daily for six continuous days followed by a one-day break. The changes in upper limb motor function [scores of Fugl-Meyer Assessment(FMA)],swelling degree of hands, pain degree [scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)] and inflammatory factors [interleukin-6(IL-6)and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)] in the two groups were observed before and after treatment;the clinical effects were evaluated after two weeks of treatment. Results:After two weeks of treatment, the FMA scores in the two groups were up-regulated when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the FMA score of the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P< 0.05). The swelling degree of hands in the two groups reduced when compared with that before treatment(P<0.05), and the swelling degree of hands in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). The VAS scores in the two groups dwindled when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the VAS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). The levels of serum IL-6 and hs-CRP in the two groups were down-regulated when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the above two levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). The total effective rate was 93.33%(28/30)in the observation group and 73.33% (22 / 30) in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:Acupuncture at Hegu(L14)point of removing knots along tendons has a significant curative effect on stage I post-stroke SHS,which can effectively improve the upper limb motor function, relieve the pain, and reduce the edema in hands and the inflammatory responses.
