Abstract: Objective: To analyze the medication rules of Chinese medicine in treating sepsis-associated acute kidney injury based on data mining. Methods:Clinical literature on Chinese medicine treatment of sepsis-associated acute kidney injury published from the establishment of databases to February 2025 was retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform,China Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP),China Biomedical Literature Database(SinoMed),Web of Science, and PubMed. Microsoft Excel 2019, SPSS Modeler 18.0, and SPSS Statistics 27 were used to analyze the frequency of herbs, the properties and flavors of herbs, meridian tropism, association rules analysis, and cluster analysis of the included prescriptions. Results: A total of 35 prescriptions were included, involving 85 types of Chinese herbs, with a total frequency of 303 occurrences. The high-frequency herbs were Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, Astragali Radix, Poria, Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, etc. The properties of the herbs were mainly cold, slightly cold, neutral, and warm; the flavors were primarily sweet, bitter, and pungent;the meridian tropism was mainly to the spleen, lung, and heart meridians; the most commonly used herbs were those with effects of tonifying deficiency, clearing heat, and invigorating blood and dissolving stasis. The top six herb combinations identified by association rule analysis were Rhei Radix et Rhizoma-Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Poria-Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma-Rhei Radix et Rhizoma-Astragali Radix,Rhei Radix et Rhizoma-Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma-Astragali Radix, Rhei Radix et Rhizoma-Poria-Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, and Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma-Poria-Rhei Radix et Rhizoma. Cluster analysis resulted in two common herb combinations. Conclusion:Rhei Radix et Rhizoma and Astragali Radix are the most frequently used herbs in Chinese medicine treatment of sepsis-associated acute kidney injury. The treatment should primarily focus on clearing heat and resolving toxins, with tonifying deficiency throughout the process, while also emphasizing invigorating blood to dissolve stasis and promoting urination to percolate dampness. The treatment should address the spleen, lung, and heart simultaneously.
