Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Umbilical Fumigation Method on primary dysmenorrhea (PD)with qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome. Methods:A total of 60 cases of PD patients with qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome treated at Gansu Medical College from March 2023 to November 2023 were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group based on the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was given the oral administration of Ibuprofen Sustained-Release Capsules, and the observation group was treated with Umbilical Fumigation Method. Both groups were treated for three menstrual cycles. The Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) scores for pain, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, and levels of interleukin-6(IL-6),prostaglandin F2α(PGF2α),prostaglandin E2(PGE2),and β-endorphin(β-EP)before and after treatment as well as the clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate was 93.33%(28/30)in the observation group, higher than 76.67%(23/30)in the control group(P< 0.05). VAS scores for pain and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), with the observation group showing lower scores than the control group(P<0.05). The levels of PGE2 and β-EP in serum in the observation group were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05)and were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). The levels of PGF2α and IL-6 in serum in the two groups were reduced when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),with no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion: The Umbilical Fumigation Method has a good curatice effect in treating PD with qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome. By regulating the levels of prostaglandins and painrelated factors and inhibiting inflammatory responses,it can alleviate clinical symptoms and reduce pain, with good safety.
