Clinical Study on Chaiqin Wendan Xuanfei Decoction Combined with Pharyngeal Muscle Training for Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome of Phlegm-Heat Accumulation Type
Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Chaiqin Wendan Xuanfei Decoction combined with pharyngeal muscle training on obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) of phlegm-heat accumulation type. Methods: A total of 96 cases of patients with OSAHS of phlegm-heat accumulation type who were treated at Wenzhou Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from January to December 2024 were selected and divided into two groups according to the random number table method, with 48 cases in each group. The control group received pharyngeal muscle training, and the observation group received the oral administration of Chaiqin Wendan Xuanfei Decoction in addition to the pharyngeal muscle training. Polysomnography monitoring indicators, Epworth Sleepiness Scale(ESS)scores, Snoring Scale(SS)scores, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI)scores were evaluated and compared before and after treatment in the two groups. The clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results: Compared with the control group, the observation group showed significant improvements after treatment, with reductions in apnea-hypopnea index(AHI), ESS, SS, and PSQI scores(P<0.05); the observation group had a significant increase in the minimum arterial oxygen saturation and a reduction in the maximum apnea duration(P<0.05). The overall clinical efficacy rate was 85.42%(41/48)in the observation group, higher than 66.67%(32/48)in the control group, with a significant difference(P<0.05).The clinical effect in the observation group was better that that in the control group. Conclusion:Chaiqin Wendan Xuanfei Decoction combined with pharyngeal muscle training can improve ventilation during sleep, alleviate clinical symptoms such as snoring and daytime sleepiness, and enhance sleep quality in patients with OSAHS of phlegm-heat accumulation type.
