Abstract: Objective: To summarize the acupoint selection patterns in the acupuncture and moxibustion treatment for atopic dermatitis (AD) using data mining technology. Methods: Clinical research literature on acupuncture and moxibustion treatment for AD from January 1,2014,to May 31,2024,was retrieved from CNKI, SinoMed,Wanfang,VIP,and PubMed databases to construct an acupuncture and moxibustion prescription database for AD. Using Excel and SPSS statistical software, the frequency of acupoint use and meridian attribution were analyzed, and association rule and cluster analyses were conducted to summarize the acupoint selection patterns. Results: A total of 40 clinical research articles were included, with 40 acupuncture and moxibustion prescriptions collected, involving 39 acupoints and a total usage frequency of 185 times. The top five most frequently used acupoints wereQuchi (LI11)point,Xuehai (SP10)point,Zusanli (ST36)point,Sanyinjiao (SP6)point, andYinlingquan (SP9) point. The top five meridians were the spleen meridian of foot-Taiyin, large intestine meridian of hand- Yangming, stomach meridian of foot-Yangming, conception vessel, and bladder meridian of foot-Taiyang. Association rule analysis showed strong associations betweenQuchi (LI11)point andXuehai (SP10)point,as well as Quchi (LI11)point andZusanli (ST36)point.Cluster analysis of high-frequency acupoints divided the acupoints into three major categories. Conclusion: Acupuncture and moxibustion treatment for AD focuses on selecting acupoints from the hand and foot Yangming meridians and the spleen meridian of foot-Taiyin, with commonly used acupoints includingQuchi (LI11)point,Xuehai (SP10)point,andZusanli (ST36)point,reflecting the therapeutic principles of dispelling wind, clearing heat, strengthening the spleen, and nourishing blood.
