Abstract： Based on the acupuncture-related texts recorded inQian Jin Yao Fang （Important Formulas Worth a Thousand Gold Pieces）andQian Jin Yi Fang （Supplement to‘Important Formulas Worth a Thousand Gold Pieces’）， this study analyzes SUN Simiao's acupuncture point selection approach． SUN Simiao's acupuncture point selection approach is mainly reflected in the following five aspects： precise acupoint location， pulse diagnosis for syndrome differentiation and acupoint selection， emphasis on extra-meridian acupoints， creation of the Ashi points， and proficient use of the five Shu points．SUN Simiao greatly enriched and developed the study of acupuncture acupoints， exerting a profound influence on the standardization of acupoint selection in acupuncture based on syndrome differentiation and the establishment of individualized treatment models in later generations.
