Introduction of XU Yunsheng's Experience in Treating Glucolipid Metabolic Disorders Based on Theory of Stagnation,Turbidity,Stasis,Toxin, and Deficiency
Abstract: This article introduces Professor XU Yunsheng's clinical experience in treating glucolipid metabolic disorders(GLMD)based on the pathological states of stagnation, turbidity, stasis, toxin, and deficiency.Professor XU posits that GLMD manifests as deficiency in origin and excess in superficiality. Its core pathogenesis lies in the failure of liver to govern the free flow of qi and impaired qi transformation, leading to congestion and stagnation of essential nutrients. He proposes the five-state transmission theory(stagnation-turbidity-stasis-toxin-deficiency), elucidating the dynamic progression wherein liver dysfunction disrupts the triple energizer's pivotal mechanism, resulting in the binding of turbidity and stasis that ultimately damages collaterals. Treatment centers on dispersing stagnation and eliminating turbid-toxins,integrating the essence of classical formula design to establish a stage-specific therapeutic system. At qi-stagnation stage, the treatment is to regulate the pivotal mechanism to restore qi transformation. At turbidity-accumulation stage, the treatment is to use spleen-activating and turbidity-resolving medicinals to cleanse impurities. At stasis-toxin stage, the treatment is to apply collateral-unblocking and toxinremoving formulas to eliminate entrenched pathogens. At deficiency-consumption stage, the treatment is to administer heart-kidney harmonizing Chinese medicine to consolidate genuine qi.
