Abstract： The classic Chinese medical text Shang Han Lun（Treatise on Cold Damage）presents its content in concise and succinct clauses，making it challenging for students with limited clinical experience to grasp its profound meanings．In the clinical teaching of Shang Han Lun，the application of the philosophical concepts of "substance and function" and the "pressure reduction approach to dispelling pathogens" can facilitate the integration and permeation of Chinese medicine and philosophy． This teaching method guides students to understand the pathogenesis of the six meridian diseases in Shang Han Lun and the principles of formula composition，thereby enhancing their comprehension of the text and its clinical application.
