Abstract:Objective:To summarize the medication rules of Professor CHEN Hongyu in treating stage 5 chronic kidney disease(non-dialysis)using data mining techniques. Methods: Clinical case records of stage 5 CKD(nondialysis) patients treated by Professor CHEN Hongyu at Hangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were collected. Excel and SPSS software were employed to analyze herb application frequency, properties, flavors, and meridian tropism , as well as to perform association rules analysis and cluster analysis. Results : A total of 410 prescriptions were analyzed, comprising 50 herbs with a cumulative application frequency of 5 689. Highfrequency herbs included Curcumae Rhizoma,Sparganii Rhizoma,Persicae Semen,Chuanxiong Rhizoma,Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, and Pheretima, etc. Herb properties were predominantly neutral, warm, and cold;flavors were mainly sweet, bitter, and pungent;primary meridian tropisms were the liver, spleen, and kidney. Herbal efficacies ranked in descending order of occurrence was as follows:blood-activating and stasis-resolving herbs, deficiency-tonifying herbs, heat-clearing herbs, liver-calming and wind-suppressing herbs. Association rule analysis identified 26 core herb pairs, while cluster analysis yielded 2 categories of herb formulations. Conclusion: Professor CHEN's treatment for stage 5 CKD(non-dialysis)emphasizes the application of neutral and warm herbs in properties, targeting the liver, spleen, and kidney meridians in meridian tropism. The core strategy focuses on blood-activating and stasis-resolving, supplemented by deficiency-tonifying, deficiency-heat-clearing, and liver-calming and wind-suppressing herbs, with modifications using astringents, purgatives, and wind-dampexpelling herbs as clinically indicated.
