Abstract： Objective： To observe the therapeutic effect of wrist-ankle acupuncture combined with Shujin Zhuangyao Prescription on residual pain after percutaneous vertebroplasty（PVP）for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures（OVCF）. Methods： A total of 60 patients with OVCF who underwent PVP at the First Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Zhanjiang Affiliated to Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from July 2023 to June 2024 were selected and divided into a control group and a trial group，with 30 cases in each group，using a random number table method. Both groups received conventional treatment. The control group was additionally treated with Diclofenac Sodium Double-Release Enteric-Coated Capsules for pain relief，while the trial group was treated with wrist-ankle acupuncture combined with Shujin Zhuangyao Prescription. Clinical efficacy was compared between the two groups， as well as changes in Visual Analogue Scale（VAS）scores，Oswestry Disability Index（ODI）scores，erythrocyte sedimentation rate（ESR），and C-reactive protein（CRP）levels before and after treatment. Results：According to the rank-sum test， the clinical efficacy of the trial group was superior to that of the control group（P＜0.05）. On the third day after treatment，ESR and CRP levels in both groups decreased compared to before treatment（P＜0.05），with the trial group achieving lower ESR and CRP levels than the control group（P＜0.05）. On the third day after treatment and during follow-up，VAS and ODI scores in both groups decreased compared to before treatment（P＜0.05）；the trial group had lower VAS and ODI scores than the control group at the same time point（P＜0.05）. Conclusion： Wrist-ankle acupuncture combined with Shujin Zhuangyao Prescription has a good clinical efficacy in treating residual pain after PVP for OVCF. It can promote early recovery of lumbar function and accelerate the rehabilitation process，with good longterm effects.
