Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of YU's skull acupuncture on ocular dryness of liver-kidney yin deficiency type. Methods: Patients with ocular dryness of liver-kidney yin deficiency type treated in Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine from September 2023 to February 2024 were selected and divided into the study group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The study group was treated with YU's skull acupuncture, and the control group was treated with conventional body acupuncture. The treatment was performed twice a week for eight weeks. The changes in scores of McMonnies Questionnaire, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, tear film break-up time(BUT)and Schirmer I test(SIT)were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results:After treatment, the markedly effective rate was 36.67%(11/30) in the study group and 13.33%(4/30)in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05); the total effective rate was 83.33%(25/30)in the study group and 76.67%(22/30)in the control group, showing no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the scores of McMonnies Questionnaire and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the above scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of BUT and SIT in the two groups were elevated when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above two levels in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:YU's skull acupuncture has a significant curative effect on ocular dryness of liver-kidney yin deficiency type, which can promote the tear secretion, improve the tear film stability and traditional Chinese medicine syndromes.
