Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of bloodletting cupping combined with Compound Huangboye Liniment and Doxycycline in treating acne of damp-heat accumulation type. Methods : A total of 70 patients with acne of damp-heat accumulation type who visited the outpatient department of Wuhu Hospital of Chinese Medicine from April to December 2024 were divided into an observation group and a control group, with 35 cases in each group, using a random number table method. The control group was treated with Doxycycline, while the observation group received bloodletting cupping and Compound Huangboye Liniment therapy in addition to the treatment of the control group. Clinical efficacy, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, Dermatology Life Quality Index(DLQI)scores, and serum inflammatory factors [tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and interleukin-6 (IL-6)] were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate in the observation group was 94.29%(33/35),higher than that in the control group at 77.14%(27/35),with a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores for papules, pustules, nodules, dry mouth and bad breath, and yellow urine and constipation decreased in both groups compared to before treatment(P<0.05), with the observation group achieving lower scores than the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, DLQI scores decreased in both groups compared to before treatment(P<0.05),with the observation group achieving lower scores than the control group(P<0.05). After treatment,IL-6 and TNF-α levels decreased in both groups compared to before treatment(P<0.05),with the observation group achieving lower levels than the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: Bloodletting cupping combined with Compound Huangboye Liniment and Doxycycline can improve clinical efficacy and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, reduce inflammatory factor levels, and thereby improve quality of life in patients with acne of damp-heat accumulation type.
