Abstract:Chronic fatigue syndrome is a clinical syndrome characterized by profound fatigue, often accompanied by mental and physical abnormalities. Professor YI Wei believes that the primary organs involved in this condition are the liver, spleen, and kidney, with the main pathogenesis being the dysfunction of qi and blood, yin and yang, and the viscera and bowels. In treatment,it is essential to focus on the changes in the spirit and qi of the liver, spleen, and kidney, emphasizing the regulation of both spirit and qi. Clinically, the main application is JIN's Three-Needle method, selecting primary points such as four shen needles, four gates [Hegu(LI 4),Taichong(LV 3),hand mental triple needles [Neiguan(PC 6),Shenmen(HT 7),Laogong(PC 8)],and spirit stabilizing points [0.5 cun above Yintang (EX-HN3),0.5 cun above bilateral Yangbai(GB 14)]. Additionally, points are selected based on viscera and bowel syndrome differentiation: for liver stagnation, points like Danzhong(RN 17) and Qimen(LV 14) are commonly chosen;for spleen deficiency, points like Zusanli(ST 36)and Sanyinjiao(SP 6)are selected;for kidney deficiency, points like Shenshu(BL 23),Guanyuan(RN 4),and Sanyinjiao(SP 6)are used. The treatment is also combined with umbilical acupuncture. Through the method of regulating spirit and qi, the treatment aims to soothe the liver to raise yang qi,strengthen the spleen to elevate clear yang, and nourish the kidney to consolidate the root essence, thereby achieving the regulation of viscera and bowels, balance of yin and yang, and recovery from deficiency and depletion.
