Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture combined with swallowing rehabilitation training on dysphagia after ischemic stroke. Methods: A total of 90 cases of patients with dysphagia after ischemic stroke who were hospitalized in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January to December 2024 were selected and divided into the acupuncture group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 45 cases in each group. Both groups received basic post-stroke treatment and rehabilitation care;the control group was additionally treated with swallowing rehabilitation training, and the acupuncture group was additionally treated with acupuncture based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks. The Dysphagia Outcome and Severity Scale(DOSS)scores, nutritional indicators [body mass index(BMI), arm muscle circumference(AMC), albumin(Alb), prealbumin(PA), hemoglobin(Hb)], cognitive function [Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores], mental status [Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA) scores], activities of daily living [Modified Barthel Index(MBI) scores],and quality of life [Eating Disorders Quality of Life Scale(EDQOL)scores] in the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results:After treatment, the scores of DOSS,MMSE,and MBI in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment, and the scores in the acupuncture group were higher than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). The scores of HAMD,HAMA,and EDQOL in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the scores in the acupuncture group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). The levels of BMI,Alb,and Hb in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment, the levels of PA in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the levels in the acupuncture group were higher than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). There were no significant differences in AMC within the same group before and after treatment or between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture combined with swallowing rehabilitation training for patients with dysphagia after ischemic stroke can enhance their swallowing and cognitive functions, improve their nutritional and mental status, and significantly improve their activities of daily living and quality of life, with high safety.
