Effect of Combination of Modified Yueju Wan and Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation on Neurological Function and Depressive Status in Patients with Post- Stroke Depression
Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of modified Yueju Wan combined with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS)on the neurological function and depressive status in patients with post-stroke depression. Methods: A total of 88 patients with post-stroke depression who were treated in the Zhumadian Second People's Hospital from January 2023 to June 2024 were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 44 cases in each group. Both groups were given Clopidogrel Bisulfate for antiplatelet aggregation, Atorvastatin Calcium Tablets for lipid-lowering and antihypertensive and other conventional neurology treatment. The control group was treated with rTMS,and the observation group was additionally treated with modified Yueju Wan based on the treatment in the control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks. The changes in traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, the scores of Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD), Barthel Index(BI),Modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia Stroke Scale(MESS)and Canadian Neurological Scale(CNS), and the levels of serum 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT), somatostatin(SS)and vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP) before and after treatment and clinical efficacy were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 86.36%(38/44)in the observation group, higher than that of 70.45%(31/44)in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, and scores of HAMD-17,MESS and CNS in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the BI and levels of serum 5-HT,SS and VIP in both groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the BI and levels of serum 5-HT,SS and VIP in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:The combination of modified Yueju Wan and rTMS has a significant clinical effect on patients with poststroke depression, which can improve the neurological function, mitigate the depressive emotion, and increase the level of brain-gut peptides of patients.
