Wake-Promoting Effect of Spinal Cord Stimulation Combined with Acupuncture and Moxibustion on Patients with Disorder of Consciousness After Cerebral Hemorrhage
Abstract: Objective: To observe the wake-promoting effect of spinal cord stimulation(SCS)combined with acupuncture and moxibustion on patients with disorder of consciousness after cerebral hemorrhage. Methods:A total of 56 inpatients with disorder of consciousness after cerebral hemorrhage in the Department of Neurosurgery of Wenzhou Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from January to December 2024 were selected as the study subjects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into the observation group and the control group, with 28 cases in each group. The control group was treated with acupuncture and moxibustion, and the observation group was additionally treated with SCS on the basis of the treatment in the control group. Both groups were treated for one month. The 30-day awakening rate and average awakening duration were compared between the two groups;the scores of Glasgow Coma Scale(GCS)and Coma Recovery Scale-Revised(CRS-R)at different time points and the occurrence of adverse reactions during treatment were compared between the two groups. With the CRS-R scores before treatment as the baseline(T0), the changes of CRS-R scores after one week(T1)and two weeks(T2)of treatment, and one week(T3)and three months(T4)after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results:In the observation group,11 cases woke up within 30 days, the awakening rate was 39.29%,and the average awakening duration was(19.75±2.54)days. In the control group, four cases woke up within 30 days, the awakening rate was 14.29%, and the average awakening duration was(24.28 ± 2.61) days. The awakening rate within 30 days in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the average awakening duration was shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05). Twenty four hours after patients woke up within 30 days, the scores of GCS and CRS-R in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment and at the time of awakening (P<0.05),and the scores of GCS and CRS-R in the observation group were higher than those in the control group at the same time point(P<0.05). The CRS-R scores in different periods were compared between the two groups, and the result was T0<T1<T2<T3<T4(P<0.05);the CRS-R score in the observation group in each period was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: SCS combined with acupuncture and moxibustion has a definite wake-promoting effect on patients with disorder of consciousness after cerebral hemorrhage, which can promote the recovery of patients' consciousness and improve the prognosis.
