Clinical Study on Treatment of Modified Huatan Tongluo Decoction Combined with Conventional Therapy for Cerebral Infarction of Phlegm and Blood Stasis Obstruct⁃ ing the Collaterals Type
Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of modified Huatan Tongluo Decoction combined with conventional therapy in the treatment of cerebral infarction of phlegm and blood stasis obstructing the collaterals type. Methods:A total of 80 inpatients with cerebral infarction of phlegm and blood stasis obstructing the collaterals type, who were treated in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of Guangzhou Haizhu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2019 to December 2023,were selected as the research subjects and divided into a control group and a treatment group, with 40 cases in each group, using the random number table method. Both groups were given conventional internal medicine basic treatment and rehabilitation training, while the treatment group was additionally treated with modified Huatan Tongluo Decoction. The treatment course for both groups was two weeks. Before and after treatment, the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS) scores, and Barthel Index(BI)scores of the patients in both groups were assessed, and the levels of hematocrit(HCT) and fibrinogen(FIB)were detected. The clinical efficacy and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores and NIHSS scores in both groups reduced compared with those before treatment, and the BI scores increased compared with those before treatment, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). The traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores and NIHSS scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group, and the BI score was higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). The levels of HCT and FIB in both groups reduced compared with those before treatment(P<0.05). The levels of HCT and FIB in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: The application of the modified Huatan Tongluo Decoction combined with conventional therapy in the treatment of patients with cerebral infarction of phlegm and blood stasis obstructing the collaterals type, compared with the sole use of conventional therapy, can improve clinical efficacy, enhance the patients' ability to take care of themselves in daily life, improve the quality of life, and ensure good safety.
