Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of YU's cranial acupuncture with spleen-strengthening and yang-lifting method in treating allergic rhinitis(AR)of lung qi deficiency-cold type. Methods:A total of 60 cases of patients diagnosed with AR of lung qi deficiency-cold type admitted to Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine from October 2023 to December 2024 were randomly assigned to either the conventional body acupuncture group or YU's cranial acupuncture group, with 30 cases in each group. The conventional body acupuncture group received acupuncture at bilateral Yingxiang(LI20),Fengchi(GB20),Feishu (BL13),Hegu(LI4),Zusanli(ST36),and Yintang(EX-HN3)points,while the YU's cranial acupuncture group received YU's cranial acupuncture with spleen-strengthening and yang-lifting method. Both groups underwent treatment three times weekly for four weeks continuously. The changes in Total Nasal Symptom Score(TNSS),Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire(RQLQ)score, and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores were observed and compared in the two groups. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate was 86.67%(26/30)in the YU's cranial acupuncture group and 63.33%(19/30)in the conventional body acupuncture group, with significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05). After treatment, the TNSS scores in the two groups decreased compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the score in the YU's cranial acupuncture group was lower than that in the conventional body acupuncture group(P<0.05). After treatment, the RQLQ scores in the two groups decreased compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the score in the YU's cranial acupuncture group was lower than that in the conventional body acupuncture group(P<0.05). After treatment, the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the score of YU's cranial acupuncture group was lower than that in the conventional body acupuncture group(P<0.05). During the treatment,no adverse events occurred in both groups. Conclusion:YU's cranial acupuncture with spleen-strengthening and yanglifting method effectively alleviates clinical symptoms and ameliorates traditional Chinese medicine manifestations and improves quality of life in AR patients of lung qi deficiency-cold type, demonstrating favorable safety and reliability.
