Abstract:Jiache(ST6)point ,a point of the foot-yangming stomach channel,is traditionally used for orofacial disorders but has recently shown regulatory effects on mental conditions. From a Chinese medicine perspective, located in the cheek region, Jiache point integrates yang meridian qi, unblocks channels and collaterals, and dissipates masses and relieves pain. Based on the "zangfu-qi and blood-brain and spirit" theory, it regulates qi movement and blood circulation, addressing both local meridian pathologies and systemic qi stagnation to improve the qi movement stagnation status, thereby exerting bidirectional modulation on emotional disorders. Additionally, through the footyangming stomach channel's internal connections with heart and stomach, Jiache point harmonizes heart-stomach functions and systemic qi-blood movement, balancing yin-yang and calming the mind. Modern studies suggest its neuroanatomical position in the trigeminal nerve-dense area may influence limbic system function via trigeminal-vagal reflexes, modulating neural pathways, neurotransmitter levels, and neuroendocrine activity to treat mental disorders.
