Abstract: Professor LI Ping's academic approach to treating insomnia from the perspective of wind pathology is based on the theory of wind pathogen causing disease. She identifies the sources of wind pathogen(external wind and internal wind) and the coexisting pathogenic factors(phlegm, blood stasis, and fire), clarifies the primary and secondary relationship between wind pathogen and other pathogenic factors, and emphasizes the dynamic pathogenesis of "wind pathogen disturbance." For different patterns of insomnia, she flexibly applies acrid-flavored herbs, heavy tranquilizing herbs, insect-based herbs, and acupuncture. By regulating the qi movement, calming the liver and suppressing wind, and expelling the pathogen outward, she restores the physiological state of "yin-yang interaction" in patients. This approach not only adheres to the Chinese medicine theory that "wind is the chief pathogen of all diseases" but also expands the clinical application of wind-dispelling herbs, providing new ideas and methods for the treatment of insomnia with Chinese medicine.
