Abstract: This article introduces Professor YU Minfeng's clinical experience in syndrome differentiation and treatment of pediatric tic disorders. Professor YU believes that the core pathogenesis of pediatric tic disorders is abnormal movements of tendons and vessels due to liver deficiency, often accompanied by insufficiency of the spleen and kidney, and is prone to being complicated by secondary syndromes such as heat-fire and blood stasis. In clinical practice, the treatment principle focuses primarily on tonifying and nourishing the liver, supplemented by methods to fortify the spleen(earth)to promote the liver(wood)and enrich the kidney(water)to nourish the liver(wood),combined with purging fire and resolving blood stasis when necessary. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can be used in combination to achieve the goals of strengthening the root vitality, clearing the superficial pathogenic factors, activating the qi movement, and achieving equilibrium of yin-yang,thereby resulting in the cessation of tics.
