Abstract: Objective: To analyze the medication patterns of traditional Chinese medicine in treating cough variant asthma in the Lingnan region through data mining. Methods: Clinical research literature on randomized controlled trials of traditional Chinese medicine for cough variant asthma in Lingnan region published between January 2000 and June 2024 was retrieved from CNKI, Chinese Medical Association Journal Database, SinoMed, VIP and Wanfang databases. Literature meeting inclusion criteria was collected to establish a database. The Ancient and Modern Medical Case Cloud Platform was used to analyze herb properties, flavors, channel tropisms, frequency of use, efficacy, association rules analysis, cluster analysis, and complex network analysis. Results : A total of 51 articles meeting the criteria were screened , involving 51 prescriptions,110 herbs, and a cumulative frequency of 568 herb uses. The top 15 most frequently used herbs were: Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Ephedrae Herba, Armeniacae Semen Amarum, Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum, Platycodonis Radix, Asteris Radix et Rhizoma, Cicadae Periostracum, Pheretima, Asari Radix et Rhizoma, Perillae Fructus, Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, Scutellariae Radix,Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus,Fritillaria, and Poria. Herb properties were mainly warm, cold, and neutral; flavors were predominantly pungent, bitter, and sweet. Herbs primarily entered the lung and spleen channels, followed by the stomach, liver, and heart channels. The top three efficacy categories were:phlegm-resolving,cougheasing, and asthma-relieving herbs, exterior-releasing herbs, and deficiency-tonifying herbs. Association rule analysis yielded 11 herb pairs. Cluster analysis identified five core formula clusters and one core herb. Complex network analysis indicated the core combination for cough variant asthma treatment:Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma,Ephedrae Herba, Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum, Armeniacae Semen Amarum, and Asteris Radix et Rhizoma. Conclusion: Traditional Chinese medicine treatment for cough variant asthma in Lingnan region focuses on diffusing the lung and releasing the exterior, dispelling wind, resolving phlegm, easing cough, and relieving asthma. It also considers the constitutional characteristics of Lingnan patients, frequently incorporating herbs to strengthen the spleen, tonify deficiency, resolve phlegm, dry dampness, clear heat, regulate qi, and nourish yin, with adept use of Lingnanspecific medicinal materials, providing clinical guidance for traditional Chinese medicine treatment of cough variant asthma in this region.
