Abstract: Objective: To analyze the relationship among pulse conditions, tongue manifestations, syndrome types, and prescriptions and medicinals in medical cases involving the compatibility of Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma-Angelicae Sinensis Radix recorded in Ming Yi Lei An (Classified Case Records of Famous Physicians). Methods: Based on the principle of dual-person verification and data entry, medical case data were screened. The collected information, including medical cases, pulse conditions, tongue manifestations, syndrome types, and prescriptions and medicinals, was entered into Excel 2021 to establish a database for the use of Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma and Angelicae Sinensis Radix recorded in Ming Yi Lei An. Key information included common pulse conditions( rapid pulse, weak pulse, wiry pulse, deficient pulse, soggy pulse, surging pulse, moderate pulse, etc.), tongue manifestations, syndrome types, and prescriptions and medicinals. The frequency of the above information was statistically analyzed using Excel 2021. Results: A total of 258 medical cases involving Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma,214 medical cases involving Angelicae Sinensis Radix, and 149 cases of the compatibility of Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma-Angelicae Sinensis Radix were screened. In medical cases involving Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, common pulse conditions were those associated with spleen deficiency types (weak pulse, thin pulse, soggy pulse, deficient pulse, moderate pulse, faint pulse),rapid pulse, and wiry pulse, etc;common syndrome types included deficiency of spleen and stomach, and liver stagnation and spleen deficiency. In medical cases involving Angelicae Sinensis Radix, common pulse conditions included rapid pulse, wiry pulse, etc; common syndrome types included deficiency of spleen and stomach, and deficiency of qi and blood. In medical cases of the compatibility of Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma-Angelicae Sinensis Radix, common pulse conditions included rapid pulse, weak pulse, and wiry pulse, etc;common syndrome types included deficiency of spleen and stomach, deficiency of qi and blood, and liver stagnation and spleen deficiency. Conclusion: Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma invigorates spleen and removes dampness, and thus the pulse conditions in medical cases related to it primarily target spleen deficiency types. Angelicae Sinensis Radix replenishes blood and promotes blood circulation, and thus the pulse conditions primarily correspond to rapid and wiry pulses. The common pulse conditions associated with the compatibility of Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma-Angelicae Sinensis Radix include rapid pulse, weak pulse, wiry pulse, deficient pulse, soggy pulse, surging pulse, and moderate pulse. Rapid pulse is often seen in syndromes of spleen dampness and heat stagnation or blood deficiency generating heat. Wiry pulse is mostly caused by spleen dampness and liver stagnation, deficiency of liver blood , and depression and stagnation of qi movement, involving liver blood deficiency and spleen deficiency. Deficiency of qi and blood corresponds to the pulse conditions of weak pulse and deficient pulse. Qi deficiency with dampness impediment corresponds to the pulse condition of soggy pulse. Deficiency of spleen and stomach and dampness diseases correspond to the pulse conditions of moderate pulse, which is related to spleen deficiency. Therefore,Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma is used to strengthen the spleen and resolve dampness, while Angelicae Sinensis Radix is used to replenish blood and promote blood circulation. Their combination achieves simultaneous supplementation of qi and blood, mutual regulation of fluids and blood, simultaneous treatment of the liver and spleen, and addressing both the root and branch aspects as well as deficiency and excess.
