Abstract:The Yi Jing( The Book of Changes) is an ancient classic that expounds on the changes of all phenomena in the world. It is the crystallization of the wisdom of the Chinese nation. It not only contains the principle of changes regarding yin-yang and the interactions between heaven, earth, and humans—known as "bianyi" (mutability) —but also abides by the law of "buyi" (immutability), which refers to "following the natural way". Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is also a manifestation of the Chinese nation's wisdom over thousands of years. Its theoretical and philosophical system is closely connected with the Yi Jing. As a characteristic TCM therapy for treating toxic syndromes, "treating toxin with toxin" is inevitably closely linked to the Yi Jing. Starting from the "principle of buyi" and "phenomenon of bianyi" in the Yi Jing, this paper expounds on the feasibility of the "treating toxin with toxin" theory and the temporal-spatial nature of its practice. It also attempts to find ways to break through limitations from three aspects:"disease, medicine, and human body",so as to provide new perspectives and thoughts for the development of the "treating toxin with toxin" therapy.
