Abstract: Shiquan Yuzhen Decoction, a representative prescription created by ZHANG Xichun, a leading practitioner in the integration of Chinese medicine and western medicine in modern times, is widely used for yin deficiency and consumptive fever. It embodies his academic thought and unique prescription principle. To further explore the potential value of Shiquan Yuzhen Decoction, this study analyzes its prescribing principles by deconstructing its herb pairs, and summarizes ZHANG Xichun's core prescribing principles and distinctive treatment methods. Regarding medication, ZHANG emphasized stimulating appetite and protecting stomach qi, and favored the use of fresh crude herbs, especially Dioscoreae Rhizoma. In terms of treatment strategies, he established the method of ascending and supplementing the pectoral qi to regulate qi movement; formulated the approach of nourishing yin and subduing hyperactivity to address genuine yin deficiency; and practiced the principle of nourishing yin and activating blood circulation to treat deficiency accompanied by blood stasis. These principles are supported with medical case studies, aiming to provide a theoretical basis and clinical references for inheriting the experience of renowned physicians and promoting the modern application of prescriptions.
