Abstract: This paper introduces Professor QIU Changlin's clinical experience in differentiating and treating epilepsy. Professor QIU Changlin has proposed the "phlegm-wind-stasis-deficiency" four-dimension syndrome differentiation and treatment model for epilepsy. He holds that the core pathogenesis of epilepsy is phlegm turbidity as the root cause, wind stirring up as the manifestation, blood stasis as the pathological change, and healthy qi deficiency as the foundation. Among them, phlegm turbidity is the core, and it also takes into account the multi-dimensional pathogenesis such as wind, stasis, and deficiency. Besides, phlegm turbidity is also the pathological product throughout the course of the disease. Therefore,in clinical practice,he establishes a dynamic syndrome differentiation and treatment strategy that focuses on resolving phlegm throughout the treatment, and simultaneously applies methods of calming wind to stop convulsions, promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, and tonifying deficiency to consolidate the foundation. In terms of medication,he is skilled in using insect herbs to search and dispel stagnation to unblock collaterals and calm wind to stop convulsions, which often achieves good curative effects.
