Abstract: This paper introduces Professor WU Xuemin's experience in treating diabetic gastroparesis. As a common chronic complication of diabetes mellitus, diabetic gastroparesis is believed by Professor WU to be mainly caused by deficiency of the spleen and stomach, phlegm and blood stasis obstructing the collaterals. The therapeutic principle should therefore focus on reinforcing deficiency and unblocking the collaterals. This involves strengthening the spleen and boosting the stomach to replenish deficiency, promoting qi movement, activating blood circulation, and eliminating phlegm to unobstruct the collaterals. With flexible modification of prescriptions, both root and branch are addressed simultaneously. Once the spleen and stomach are healthy, qi movement is smooth, and the stomach collaterals are unobstruct, the patient's clinical symptoms can be markedly improved.
