Abstract:Objective:To analyze the clinical medication patterns of Professor PANG Long in the treatment of dry eye using data mining. Methods: Data processing, frequency analysis, association rule analysis, cluster analysis, and network diagram drawing were performed using Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism 9.0, and SPSS software. Results: A total of 399 prescriptions were included, involving 198 Chinese herbs. There were 26 high-frequency herbs with a frequency of ≥ 80 times, among which Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma,Ophiopogonis Radix, and Poria were the most frequently used. The high-frequency herbs mainly entered the spleen, lung, and liver meridians, with a predominance of cold and neutral properties, and sweet, bitter, and pungent flavors. Their main effects were to tonify deficiency, clear heat, and release the exterior. Association rule analysis identified 13 classic herbal couplets and 13 three-herb combinations, with core herbs including Moutan Cortex,Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma,Rehmanniae Radix,Poria,Ophiopogonis Radix, and Polygonati Rhizoma. Cluster analysis revealed five Chinese herb clusters used by Professor PANG for treating dry eye, with effects of nourishing yin and clearing heat to moisten dryness, clearing heat, improving vision and draining dampness, tonifying qi and strengthening the spleen to harmonize, strengthening the spleen to dry dampness and induce diuresis, and nourishing blood to tranquilize the mind and unblock the collaterals. Conclusion:Professor PANG is good at using methods such as tonifying qi and strengthening the spleen, nourishing yin and clearing heat, and harmonizing qi and blood to treat dry eye. He emphasizes a holistic approach to harmonize the functions of the five viscera and restore the distribution of body fluids, thereby improving dry eye symptoms.
