Abstract:Objective:To analyze the literature on acupuncture and moxibustion for acute exacerbation of gouty arthritis (GA) using CiteSpace visualization tools, revealing research hotspots and future trends. Methods:Retrieved relevant literature on acupuncture and moxibustion for acute exacerbation of GA in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) from the establishment of the database to December 31,2024. Statistically analyzed the annual publication volume and conducted a visual analysis of authors, institutions, and keywords through CiteSpace 6.4.R1 software. Results:Among 313 included studies, annual outputs showed overall growth with recent declines. No stable core author group emerged, and inter-institutional collaboration remained limited. "Electroacupuncture," "fire needling," and "bloodletting" were primary interventions, with "damp-heat accumulation type" as the dominant pattern. Current research focuses on efficacy observation. Conclusion: Acupuncture and moxibustion is gaining recognition for acute exacerbation of GA. Future studies should investigate its mechanisms and strengthen multicenter collaboration to establish high-quality clinical evidence.
