Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical efficacy of thumb-tack needle embedding combined with hot compress with Chinese medicine package on neck and shoulder pain of patients requiring prone posture after ophthalmic vitrectomy. Methods：A total of 300 patients requiring prone posture after vitrectomy，admitted to the Department of Ophthalmology，Jiaxing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Affiliated to Zhejiang Chinese Medical University from January to December 2024， were selected and divided into the control group and the trial group using the random number table method，with 150 cases in each group. Ultimately 144 cases in the control group and 142 cases in the trial group completed the study. The control group received conventional treatment，while the trial group received additional treatment with thumb-tack needle embedding combined with hot compress with Chinese medicine package based on the control group′s treatment.The clinical efficacy，changes in Visual Analogue Scale （VAS） scores，Clinical Assessment Scale for Cervical Spondylosis （CASCS） scores，and Chinese version of the Constant-Murley Scale （CMS） for shoulder joint scores before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results：After 14 days of treatment，the total effective rate in the trial group was 90.14% （128/142），which was higher than that of 79.86% （115/144） in the control group （P＜0.05）. After 7 days of treatment， the VAS scores of both groups decreased compared with those before treatment （P＜0.05），and the VAS score of the trial group was lower than that of the control group （P＜0.05）. After 7 days of treatment， the CASCS and CMS scores of both groups increased compared with those before treatment（ P＜0.05），and the CASCS and CMS scores of the trial group were higher than those of the control group（ P＜ 0.05）. Conclusion：Thumb-tack needle embedding combined with hot compress with Chinese medicine package can effectively alleviate neck and shoulder pain，and improve neck and shoulder joint function in patients requiring prone posture after vitrectomy.
