Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding with Qihuang acupuncture on overweight and obesity of spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction type. Methods: A total of 50 patients with overweight and obesity of spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction type admitted to the first Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from April 1,2025 to June 1,2025 were selected to receive acupoint catgut embedding with Qihuang acupuncture once a week for a two-month course of treatment,eight times in total. The clinical effects,and the changes in body mass,waist circumference,Body Mass Index (BMI),scores of Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores before and after treatment were observed. Results:The clinical total effective rate was 86.0% (43/50). After treatment,the body weight,waist circumference,and BMI were all reduced when compared with those before treatment,differences being significant (P<0.05). After treatment,the SAS scores and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores were decreased when compared with those before treatment, differences being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The acupoint catgut embedding with Qihuang acupuncture can significantly improve the body mass and waist circumference of patients with overweight and obesity of spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction type,mitigate the clinical symptoms and degree of anxiety,and improve the quality of life.
