Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of eight-section brocade combined with bone-setting tuina on adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). Methods:A total of 100 AIS patients admitted to Zhumadian Central Hospital from January 2022 to June 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into the control group and the trial group according to the random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with braces, and on this basis, the control group was treated with bone-setting tuina. The trial group was treated with a combination of eight-section brocade based on the treatment in the control group. Both groups were treated for six months. The clinical efficacy, and the changes in the spinal morphological indicators (Cobb angle, trunk rotation angle), lumbar mobility (flexion, extension), lumbar function [scores of Owestry Disability Index (ODI)], and quality of life [scores of revised Scoliosis Research Society 22 (SRS-22)] before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate was 95.74% (45/47) in the trial group, higher than that of 78.26% (36/46) in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the Cobb angle and trunk rotation angle in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the Cobb angle and trunk rotation angle in the trial group were smaller than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the flexion range of motion and range of motion extension were increased when compared with those before treatment (P< 0.05), and the flexion range of motion and range of motion extension in the trial group were larger than those in the control group (P<0.05). After six months of treatment, the ODI scores were reduced when compared with those before treatment and after two months of treatment (P<0.05),and the ODI score in the trial group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the SRS-22 scores in both groups were elevated when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the SRS-22 score in the trial group was higher than that in the control group (P< 0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of eight-section brocade combined with bone-setting tuina has a better curative effect on AIS, which can improve patients' spinal morphology and lumbar mobility, and enhance the lumbar function and quality of life.
