Clinical Study on SHI's Traumatology Shoulder Manipulation Combined with Modified Yougui Wan for Middle-Aged and Elderly Frozen Shoulder of Liver and Kidney Deficiency Type
Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of SHI's traumatology shoulder manipulation combined with modified Yougui Wan in the treatment of middle-aged and elderly frozen shoulder of liver and kidney deficiency type. Methods:A total of 70 middle-aged and elderly patients with frozen shoulder of liver and kidney deficiency type, treated at Wenzhou TCM Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University from February to December 2024, were enrolled. They were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group using the random number table method, with 35 cases in each group. The control group received modified Yougui Wan treatment, while the observation group received SHI's traumatology shoulder manipulation combined with modified Yougui Wan. Both groups were treated for two weeks. The shoulder pain intensity [Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score], shoulder function [American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score], shoulder range of motion (abduction, internal rotation, external rotation angles),clinical efficacy, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: After two weeks of treatment, the VAS scores significantly decreased, the ASES scores significantly increased, and the angles of abduction, internal rotation, and external rotation significantly increased in both groups compared with those before treatment (P<0.05). The observation group had lower VAS scores, higher ASES scores, and greater angles of abduction, internal rotation, and external rotation than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After treatment, the total effective rate in the observation group was 91.43% (32/ 35),higher than that of 71.43%( 25/35) in the control group, showing a statistically significant difference( P<0.05). During treatment, the incidence of adverse reactions was 11.43% (4/35) in the observation group and 5.71% (2/35) in the control group, with no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: SHI's traumatology shoulder manipulation combined with modified Yougui Wan yields satisfactory efficacy in the treatment of middle-aged and elderly frozen shoulder of liver and kidney deficiency type. It can relieve shoulder pain, improve shoulder function, and shows a favorable safety profile.
