Abstract:The "tendon-bone balance" theory, proposed by the representative Pingle GUO's school of orthopedics and traumatology in Chinese medicine, serves as the core academic concept guiding the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders such as ankle injuries. The ankle regulation and balance method, developed based on this theory,is applicable for treating chronic ankle instability (CAI). The core pathogenesis of CAI lies in joint instability caused by the imbalance between tendons and bones. Therefore, restoring tendon-bone balance is crucial for reconstructing ankle function and stability. Based on the "tendon-bone balance" theory, this article systematically explores the etiology and pathogenesis of CAI from the perspective of the physiological and pathological interactions between tendons and bones. It elucidates the mechanism of action and clinical application value of the ankle regulation and balance method in treatment, including the operational principles and holistic therapeutic strategy of the three-step procedure:"tendon relaxation, bone setting, and balance regulation." This provides a theoretical basis and practical reference for the prevention and treatment of CAI with Chinese medicine.
