Clinical Study on Acupoint Application for Obesity with Spleen Deficiency and Damp⁃ ness Obstruction Type in Children Under a Hospital-School Collaboration Model
Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of acupoint application in treating obesity with spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction type in children under a hospital-school collaboration model. Methods:A total of 84 children with obesity of spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction type, screened from Tiantai Experimental Primary School between February and March 2023,were selected as study subjects. They were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group using the random number table method, with 42 cases in each group. From April 2023,a 12-week treatment was conducted at Tiantai County Hospital of Chinese Medicine. Based on conventional diet and exercise interventions, the control group received acupoint application, while the observation group received acupoint application under a hospital-school collaboration model. The excellent-good rate of treatment compliance, clinical effects, weight rebound rate, as well as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, lipid metabolism indicators, and fatty liver detection rate before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: The excellent-good rate of treatment compliance was 95.24% (40/42) in the observation group and 73.81% (31/42) in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). The total effective rate of clinical effect was 100% (42/ 42) in the observation group and 85.71% (36/42) in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores were decreased in both groups when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, body mass index (BMI),body fat percentage, and body weight were decreased in both groups when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and these indicators in the observation group were lower than those in the control group( P<0.05). After treatment, levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol( HDL-C) were increased in both groups when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), while levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and total cholesterol (TC) were decreased (P<0.05). The HDL-C level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05), while LDL-C and TC levels were lower (P<0.05). After treatment, the fatty liver detection rate in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). During the 6-month follow-up after treatment, the weight rebound rate was 9.52% (4/42) in the observation group and 28.57%( 12/42) in the control group, with the observation group showing a significantly lower rebound rate( P<0.05). Conclusion: Based on conventional diet and exercise interventions, acupoint application under a hospital-school collaboration model demonstrates better effect in treating obesity with spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction type in children. It improves treatment compliance in children, enhances lipid metabolism levels, and reduces the weight rebound rate.
