Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of biplanar cervical traction combined with scalp cluster acupuncture on sleep quality in patients with cervicogenic insomnia of qi stagnation and blood stasis type. Methods:Sixty patients with cervicogenic insomnia treated at the International Zhuang Medicine Hospital Affiliated to Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine from August 2022 to August 2024 were selected and randomly divided into the observation group and the control group using the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group received conventional western medicine combined with traditional horizontal single-plane cervical traction, while the observation group received biplanar cervical traction combined with scalp cluster acupuncture. Both groups were treated for seven days. Clinical efficacy was evaluated, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores,Neck Disability Index( NDI) scores, and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. The incidence of adverse reactions and the recurrence rate were also recorded. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate in the observation group was 80.00% (24/30), higher than that of 53.33% (16/30) in the control group (P<0.05). On the second and seventh days of treatment, all item scores and total scores of PSQI in both groups were decreased compared with those before treatment (P<0.05). On the seventh day of treatment, the PSQI scores for sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, daytime dysfunction, and the total score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). On the second and seventh days of treatment,NDI scores showed a decreasing trend in both groups( P<0.05). On the seventh day of treatment, the NDI score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). On the second day of treatment, the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score in the observation group was decreased compared with that before treatment (P<0.05). On the seventh day of treatment, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores in both groups decreased compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 10.00% (3/30),lower than that of 33.33% (10/30) in the control group( P<0.05). At the six-month follow-up,the recurrence rate in the observation group was 25.00%( 6/24), lower than that of 62.50% (10/16) in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Biplanar cervical traction combined with scalp cluster acupuncture is significantly effective in the treatment of patients with cervicogenic insomnia of qi stagnation and blood stasis type. It can improve sleep quality and cervical function in these patients.
