Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) combined with hemoperfusion (HP) on uremic pruritus. Methods:A total of 84 patients with uremic pruritus admitted to the Department of Nephrology of People's Hospital of Anji from December 2024 to March 2025 were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the observation group using the random number table method, with 42 cases in each group. The control group received conventional hemodialysis (HD) for treatment, while the observation group received TEAS combined with HP in addition to the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 6 months. Clinical effects were evaluated, and the degree of pruritus, blood indicators, sleep quality, and recurrence after 3 months were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate in the observation group was 92.86% (39/42), higher than that of 76.19% (32/42) in the control group (P<0.05). The scores of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and 5D itch scores at 30 minutes, 3 months, and 6 months after treatment were gradually decreased in both groups (P<0.05),and the VAS and 5D itch scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at each time point (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN),creatinine, serum calcium, serum phosphorus, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) , and intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) were decreased in both groups when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the levels of BUN, creatinine, serum calcium, serum phosphorus, hs-CRP, and iPTH in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were decreased in both groups when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the PSQI score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After 3 months of follow-up,the recurrence rate of uremic pruritus in the observation group was 5.13% (2/39),lower than that of 28.13% (9/32) in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:TEAS combined with HP can alleviate the degree of pruritus in patients with uremic pruritus, improve renal function, reduce inflammatory response, enhance sleep quality, and effectively lower the recurrence rate of uremic pruritus.
