Abstract: Objective: To analyze the research overview, hotspots, and frontier trends of Chinese medicine in the prevention and treatment of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) based on bibliometric, thus providing evidence for optimizing clinical strategies and research planning. Methods:A bibliometric analysis was conducted on Chinese and English literature related to Chinese medicine treatment of HFMD published between January 1, 1985, and December 31,2024,retrieved from CNKI and the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Results:A total of 1 373 Chinese and 29 English publications were included. The annual number of publications in this field showed a fluctuating increasing trend starting from 2007,with the first English article published in 2012. In this field,China was the country with the highest number of publications; Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was the institution with the most publications in the Chinese literature database, while the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were the leading institutions in the English literature database;New Chinese Medicine was the journal with the highest publication volume. Based on research directions from various teams, combined with keyword clustering and burst analyses, research hotspots in Chinese medicine treatment of HFMD were identified, focusing on clinical efficacy, immune function,Xiao'er Chiqiao Qingre Granules,Chinese medicine nursing care, and herbal fumigation and washing. Conclusion:Research on Chinese medicine treatment of HFMD demonstrates a stable development trend, with abundant achievements from various research teams and diversified research hotspots, providing theoretical references and practical guidance for future studies on Chinese medicine prevention and treatment of HFMD.
