Abstract:The cross-organ dialogue mechanism of the lung-gut axis in immune regulation plays an important role in respiratory immune diseases. Multidisciplinary studies have shown that the lung-gut axis achieves systemic regulation through immune, microbial, and neural networks: the embryonic development homology between the lung and the large intestine, along with the parallels in mucosal immune structures, forms the basis for functional coordination; while gut microbiota participates in maintaining and regulating pulmonary immune homeostasis through both structural and functional pathways. The traditional Chinese medicine theory of "the lung and large intestine being interiorexteriorly related" offers a new perspective for exploring cross-organ regulation in allergic asthma. Chinese herbal medicines and Chinese medicine compounds (e. g., Fangfeng Tongsheng San) can intervene in the lung-gut axis through multiple targets,regulate the gut microecology,and reshape immune balance,thereby achieving simultaneous treatment of the lung and large intestine. This theoretical framework not only provides a scientific explanation for the traditional Chinese medicine approach of simultaneous treatment of lung and intestine,but also opens up new research directions for asthma intervention strategies based on gut microbiota and immune regulation.
